The two filters covering the browns and greens of land are much closer to each other in wavelength for the LROC photo than for the DSCOVR photo, so there’s less spectral variation among them, giving the land an overall yellow appearance similarly bright in both areth and green channelswhere in the DSCOVR photo the desert north of Africa swirls with reds and yellows.
The Blue Marble image is a vertical perspective projection at some higher altitude than kilometers, though I don’t know what the altitude of projection is.
This is our best guess as how a human observer would see the Earth from L1. It’s from that unique vantage point that the EPIC instrument is acquiring science quality images of the entire sunlit face of Earth. The cells in our eyes are sensitive to very broad, overlapping ranges of colors of light. In this case, L1 allows the satellite to remain in between Earth and the sun.

One last thing I thought I’d mention about it is that you might have noticed that North America looks smaller than it does in the most familiar “blue marble” picture previously released by NASA. To make Earth look like Earth, you need to start with three images that were taken in something close to red, green, and blue wavelengths.
